Dr S.K. Jain is the Chairman and Managing Director of Ground Water & Mineral Investigation Consultancy Centre (P) Ltd and was pioneer in outlining the contours of several emerging technologies and delivery modules in Geohydrology. Dr Jain has been serving industrialists, institutions, Government and Non-Government Organisations across the length and breadth of the country including Asian, African and Gulf countries.
Having conferred Masters of Technology degree by University of Roorkee (now I.I.T, Roorkee), Dr Jain is a distinguished and active alumnus of the institute. Dr Jain secured high rank in All India Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission and joined Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India as Class I Officer in 1978. During his tenure with Government of India, Dr Jain further pursued post graduate diploma in Business Management from Dr Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication and Management, Mumbai and was awarded Kulpati Medal for securing highest position.
Besides, Dr Jain successfully completed training course in Computer Application in Hydrogeology conducted by IIT Roorkee, on Govt. of India assignment in 1983. He served Government of India for 8 years, till 1985. Dr Jain’s main intellectual pursuits are scientific investigation for water and other earth resources. Dr Jain started GWMICC (P) Ltd consultancy organisation for water and minerals in 1985, in private sector.
Dr Jain was also conferred doctorate degree by the MGS International University Foundation, Delware, USA. Dr Jain is Fellow of Indian Water Resources Society, I.I.T Roorkee and member of several international and national associations like, Albert Einstein academy foundation, U.S.A., International Association of Geohydrologists (Kellinworth, U.K.), International Water Association of Environmental Hydrogeologist (USA), International Water Association, London (U.K.) and Consultancy Development Center, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India etc.
Dr Jain has published many research papers in reputed National and International Journals and conferences, including a paper on Innovative Techniques for Improving Ground Water Regime in Asian Countries in International Conference held on Hydrological sciences at NICE France. He was invited by the then President of India, Honourable Abdul Kalam at RastrapatiBhawan in March, 2004 to discuss about the innovative methods of improving Ground Water conditions of India through Rainwater Harvesting along Highways and other Roads. In 2006-7, Dr Jain took a step forward towards solving drainage problem of the urban area by implementing Storm Water Management projects in many industries and townships.
Dr Jain has unique style of leadership with sharp focus on the research and has imparted training in Groundwater Management and Rainwater Harvesting to many technocrats, engineers, town planners, administrators and architects across India and abroad in workshops conducted by “Everything about Water.
Dr Jain delivered prestigious lecture on Storm Water Management at Cambridge University in 2011-2012. Dr Jain has been instrumental in publishing 200 page, book on Water Vision, released by the then Honourable President of India Smt. PratibhaPatil. Dr Jain has been a keynote speaker in many international conferences in Singapore, France, Australia, US, UK etc. In addition to this, he was also on organising committee of International Conference on Ground Water dynamics and global changes organized by UNESCO in 2008.
Dr Jain was president of Rotary Club Jaipur in 2006-7 and has implemented water conservation project in Rotary Bhawan building and has been convener of National Conference on Save Water Save Earth at Birla Auditorium in Nov 2006 organized by Rotary International District 3050. From various rotary platforms, Dr Jain has spoken on various topics including water management, science, culture, education etc. and has travelled widely across the world. Dr Jain also served as Assistant Governor, zone 11 in 2009-10 in Rotary International district 3050 and was recipient of highest award Service above Self by Rotary International.
Dr Jain is also actively involved in social service and has been honoured as SamajGaurav by Rajasthan Jain Mahasabha, as SamajRatna by Rajasthan Jan Manch (conferred by Mrs.Sumitra Singh, speaker of Rajasthan Assembly, 2005) and is also a member of Mahavir International and other social service organisations. He was also conferred as Eminent Personality of India by International Social Impact Research Foundation and original volume is placed in National Library, Kolkata. Dr Jain’s Biography is also published in book – International Who’s Who of Intellectuals, Cambridge, England, 1985 edition.
