Celebrating 40 Years of Groundwater Leadership The Groundwater Strategy Summit 2025, organised by the Institute of Water Conservation (IWC) in collaboration with GWMICC Pvt. Ltd., was successfully held on 27 December 2025 at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur. The Summit marked an important milestone as it also celebrated 40 years of GWMICC’s contribution to groundwater investigation, hydrogeology, and sustainable water resource management in India.
AOver the past four decades, GWMICC has worked across multiple sectors supporting governments, industries, infrastructure projects, and communities in understanding, managing, and conserving groundwater resources through scientific investigation and practical implementation. The Summit therefore served both as a technical forum for dialogue and as an opportunity to reflect on four decades of field experience, innovation, and leadership in groundwater science.
Groundwater sustainability is central to India's long-term water security. The Summit created an important platform for bringing together science, policy, industry, and communities to exchange knowledge and identify practical pathways for sustainable water management.
Dr S. K. Jain
The Groundwater Strategy Summit demonstrates the importance of collaborative dialogue in addressing complex water challenges. By bringing together experts from multiple disciplines, we aim to strengthen evidence-based approaches and encourage partnerships that support long-term groundwater resilience.
Prof. Himanshu Jain
The Summit explored several important technical and policy dimensions shaping the future of groundwater management — highlighting the importance of integrated water resource management and evidence-based decision-making.
As water stress and climate pressures increase, the need for scientific understanding, technical innovation, and collaborative action has never been greater. Through initiatives such as the Groundwater Strategy Summit, GWMICC continues to support dialogue, research, and practical implementation aimed at strengthening groundwater resilience and sustainable water management in India and beyond.
The Summit is made possible through the collaboration of organisations committed to sustainable groundwater management in India.
